Nature of Work:

 

Cabin Stewardess is responsible in preparing the bedding of guests in a cruise. They are part of the housekeeping team that implements good service by maintaining the cleanliness of the rooms and meet customer’s demands.

 

Basic Tasks:

 

  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of each room occupied and non-occupied.
  • Prepare the room beddings, arranging it and fix it promptly.
  • Do room service from time to time to clean each cabins.
  • Communicate with customers about their demands and orders according to their rooms or things that they need.
  • Assist guest on the usage of appliance on their cabin.
  • Inform guest about the cruise activities.

 

Education and Training Requirement:

 

  • Graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Management or graduate of vocational/training course in hospitality Management in any institute or colleges accredited by TESDA.
  • For entry levels, must have internship in a hotel or motels.
  • Must have at least 1-3 years experience as cabin steward or related jobs.

 

 

Salary Information:

 

Overseas Employment:

US-USD2, 200 or PhP104, 445 a month

Europe-EUR1, 200 or PhP79, 678 a month

 

 

Skills and Competency Requirements:

 

  • Must have wide knowledge in cruise/hotel management
  • Knowledge in good customer service
  • Knowledge in room service.
  • Can do multi tasking and can work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge and skills in bed preparation and room cleaning.
  • High command in English language, both oral and written.
  • Must be patient and courteous to guests.
  • Must have pleasing personality and has strong built

 

 

Employment Opportunities:

 

Cabin Steward/ Stewardess are in demand abroad especially in Europe where number of cruise ships exists. Competitive salary is given plus the chance to travel in different places and receive tips from satisfied customers.

 

Working Environment:

 

The workplace of Cabin Steward is very pleasant, they are provided with their own rooms to rests. However, Cabin Stewardess does a lot of multi tasking because they have to clean each rooms and often assist customer’s demands.

 

Working Hours:

 

Cruise has longer working time and work in shifting schedules. Cabin stewards often work for 10-12 hours a day.

 

Career Advancement:

 

Highly skilled cabin Steward can be promoted as Head Officer in room service or Chambermaid. They can also be promoted Supervisors in the long run.
